FAQs
CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is one of many phytocannabinoids (Cannabinoids contained in plants); which can be found in the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD can be derived from two cannabis families, categorized as hemp-derived and marijuana-derived CBD. Basically, CBD is a chemical like THC found abundantly in cannabis/Marijuana.
CBD is non-psychoactive, like in the way THC can be, and non-intoxicating. CBD alone does not cause any psychoactive effects, whereas THC does have psychoactive effects and some studies show CBD may even counteract the psychoactive effects of THC.
In addition to CBD isolate, there is also Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum CBD. Full Spectrum is CBD extracted with all other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Broad Spectrum is selective extraction by specifically selecting the desired cannabinoids, terpenes , or terpenes.
Other Cannabinoids of interest are CBDA, THC, THCA, CBN, CBG, and CBDV.
Depending on the strain of cannabis and extraction method, will depend on the percentage of CBD and other cannabinoids, cannabinoids are a diverse chemical compound that reacts to the cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2 within the Endocannabinoid system in our bodies, that are extracted from the plant to create oil, concentrates, or a pure form of CBD known as an isolate.
CB1 receptors directly affect our brain and nervous system.
CB2 receptors effect our immune system and inflammation within the body.

Some possible risks of using CBD should be consulted with a physician.
Health Risks
- If you are using other medication, supplement, or have health complications, consult a physician before using CBD.
- Risks apply to special populations like the elderly, animals, pregnant women, adolescents, and children. The study and research are not
- Some CBD products have been reported to test positive for contaminants like pesticides, mold, heavy metals, and salmonella. We recommend obtaining a Certificate of Analysis to verify what chemical compounds are found in the product, to show if there are any contaminants, what percentage of that is in the product, and does the percentage of that contaminate pass or fail the safe limit. A Certificate of Analysis will also show the percentage of how much THC and CBD were able to be extracted from the plant.
- CBD uses the same enzymes that metabolizes grapefruit and may cause negative effects if used within the same time frame of ingestion.
- CBD may also affect how the body metabolizes certain prescription drugs, consult a physician if you are taking other medication.
Legal Risks
- Full spectrum CBD may include a variety of cannabanoids, including THC, and using full spectrum CBD may show up on a drug test depending on usage.
- Some CBD products may claim to be “THC Free” or the certificate of analysis may show “null” or “not detectable” when testing for THC, but this does not mean there is not THC in the product, this can mean the test threshold for THC was not met, for example if the threshold is .3% and the test results finds a percentage of THC lower than .3%, the value of the test will show “null” or “not detectable”, meaning THC can test positive but may not meet the test threshold to show a result.
- Hemp-CBD and Marijuana-CBD are very similar by visual comparison and smell, due to the similarities, public use may be an issue with authorities not being able to tell the difference between legal hemp CBD that is contains below .3% THC and marijuana containing more than .3% THC. There are new field tests that can accurately detect the level of THC by taking a sample of the product, then mixing chemicals in a small container to result in a color to distinguish if the level of THC is above or below .3 % . Testing kits for CBD are not standard and
Yes, CBD is legal. Due to the Farm bill act of 2018, hemp has been removed from the controlled substance list as a schedule I drug.

Hemp Farming Act of 2018
This bill legalizes industrial hemp that has a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana) concentration of no more than 0.3% by removing it from schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act.

The FDA held a public hearing on May 31, 2019, to obtain scientific data and information about the safety, manufacturing, product quality, marketing, labeling, and sale of products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds.
